Amon D Merritt, age 72, of Lucedale passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at home in Lucedale.  Mr. Merritt was born August 31, 1952 in Lucedale, MS. He is the son of the late J.T. and the late Mary Havard Merritt.  He married Sandra Merritt May 5, 1972.

He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He loved his children, grandchildren, ad great grandchildren. He loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Merritt; daughter and son-in-law, Reneé (Scottie) Vaughn; son and daughter-in-law, Tim (Kellie Dotson) Merritt; grandchildren, Tyler & Kelsey Merritt, Samantha & Allen Clark, Colton & Kaitlyn Vaughn, Alexia Merritt, Luide & Austin Rockwell, Brooklyn & Blain Thornton, Morgan & Kase Allgood; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Bobby (Melinda) Merritt; numerous other family members and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, J.T. And Mary Havard Merritt; sister, Patricia Merritt Anders; nephew, Jamie Anders.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. Larry Havard and Rev. Bruce McKenzie officiating.  Burial will be in Pipkins Cemetery, Lucedale.

Calling hours will be Friday, March 7, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS.

Pallbearers will be Sam Merritt, Jed Merritt, Roscoe Greene, Ralph Merritt, Jason Anders, Kase Allgood; Honorary Pallbearers will be Joey Howard, Phillip Howard.
