Anna Tanner, age 80, of Lucedale passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. Mrs. Tanner was born July 6, 1944, in New Orleans, LA. She is the daughter of the late Walter Albert and the late Juanita (Melvin) Leroy.  She was married to Donald Edward Tanner for 51 years, they met in New Orleans, LA where he was a professional horse jockey; then a tow boat captain for 47 years. This journey led them across several states then to Mobile, AL, where they raised their children, then they settled in Lucedale, MS for the last 14 years to be closer to their family and church community.

Mrs. Tanner was a homemaker, a faithful member of Gieger Apostolic Church for over 40 years. She loved to read the word of God and devotionals; Psalms was her favorite book of the bible. Mrs. Tanner loved her rose garden, shopping, attending and supporting her church weekly.

She is survived by her husband: Donald Edward Tanner Sr, two daughters: Denise (Tim) McKissick and April (Randy) Moreau Rink;  two sons: Donald Edward Tanner Jr. and Gordon Joseph Moreau;  five grandchildren: Kelsey (Brooklynn), Moriah, Spencer (Nicole), Samantha, Rowdy; four great grandchildren: Paisley, Remi, Sage, Spencer Jr.; cousin: Diane Terrington; niece: Monica Morse Bowen; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other family members that she loved.

She is preceded in death by sisters: Betty Leroy Morse and Loretta Leroy.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Rink, Tim McKissick, Kelsey McKissick, Kirkland McKissick, Aaron McKissick, Sean Smith.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the life of Anna Tanner. Someone who meant so much to each
of us. It's never easy to say goodbye especially to someone who brought such warmth, comfort, positive
guidance, joy and laughter to the world around them. But as we gather in grief we also gather in gratitude for
the gift of knowing Anna and all of the memories we will carry forward.
Anna had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone she met and made those around her feel seen, heard,
understood and loved. She displayed incredible strength, courage and grace teaching us all the power of
perseverance, faithfulness and hope during challenging times.
As a faithful, loving Mother and wife, Anna loved and honored her call as a homemaker to serve her family and
counted it the greatest privilege of all. She purely enjoyed making her home clean, cozy and welcoming with
her gift of decorating with a natural eye for quality, style and simple class.
Anna loved and adored her hard working, loving husband with her whole heart. She fiercely loved, protected,
defended and prayed for her children, grandchildren and all whom she loved dearly. She sincerely loved and
cherished each of her church family and friends ina deeply special way.
Most of all, she unashamedly, faithfully loved, served, worshipped and revered her solid rock, the foundation of
all of her strength and qualities, the very core of her heart, Jesus Christ. She lived to die in his presence and
loved faithfully attending the house of the Lord weekly at Geiger Apostolic. She was a pillar of this church of
over 40 years.
Sis Anna will always be remembered fondly by her cute cajun accent with much animation and expression, her
loving smile, contagious laughter, humor, positivity, faithfulness and pure heart of praise and adoration to her
God for the testimony of where he has brought her from and all that he has brought her through in her lifetime
and would openly share to all. She was a genuine encourager, full of positive light.
Anna was full of life and energy that we all loved and appreciated. She had a personality that bubbled over
wherever she went no matter the circumstance. She loved life and laughter. Truly, the joy of the Lord was her
strength!
Anna left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was known by many as "Moma Anna"
Thank you so much Moma, (Anna) for being such an example of so many great qualities. Thank you for your
loving sacrifices for your husband ,children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all those who you've loved
and invested in throughout your life. Thank you for your support, guidance and most of all leading by example,
teaching and showing us how to love, and bring the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior
through every situation that this life holds. Love Always, Your Loving family.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Geiger Apostolic Church, Geiger Road,116 Geiger Rd Lucedale, MS with Bro. Phillip McKissick officiating.  The burial will be in Dorothy's Memorial Cemetery, Lucedale, MS.

Calling hours will be Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 6:00pm -10:00pm at Geiger Road Apostolic Church, 116 Geiger Road, Lucedale, MS.
