ELLIJAY, GA - Audrey Greene Trest, 98, of E1lijay, GA, died February 14, 2018 at Life Care Center
of Copper Basin, in Ducktown, TN. She was a native of George County, Mississippi, and moved
to Ellijay in October of 2001. She was born December 24, 1919, and was a graduate of George
County High School.
She worked at Southern Bell for two years in Raleigh, North Carolina, before marrying and
moving to Mobile, Alabama in 1940. She moved to Spanish Fort, Alabama in 1966, where she
lived until she moved to Ellijay. She was a member of Mountaintown Baptist Church in Ellijay
for fourteen years and was a founding member of East Pointe Baptist Church of Spanish Fort.
Preceding her in death are her parents, L D. and Addie Greene, husband Jesse E. Trest, husband
George P. Eubanks, son Gary M. Eubanks, sisters LaRue Norris, Vera Havard, and brother
Bernard Greene, and stepson Jesse E. Trest, Jr. She is survived by her son, George K. Eubanks
(Lt Col, USMC, Retired) and his wife, Sara Joiner Eubanks of Ellijay; sister Wilma Greene
Thrower of Lucedale, and grandsons George K. (Buddy) Eubanks, Jr. and his wife, Lori, of
Raleigh, North Carolina; Jeffrey C. Eubanks and his wife, Michelle, of Florence, Alabama; John
M. Eubanks and his wife, Renee, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Gary M. Eubanks, Jr. and
his wife, Margie, of Birmingham, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Eubanks of Birmingham,
stepdaughter Barbara Hinkle and her husband Bill Hinkle of Van Cleave, Mississippi, and
stepdaughter Sara Douglas of Theodore, Alabama. She has four grandsons, two grandsons by
marriage, four great- grandsons and nine great-granddaughters.
"Miss Audrey" as she was known by her friends, was a wonderful mother, a great friend to all
who knew her and a dedicated Christian. We will miss her and that infectious laugh.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Rocky Creek Baptist Church, Lucedale, MS.
Visitation is planned at Sigler Funeral Home in Lucedale, MS from 9:00 A.M. through 11:00
A.M Monday, February19, with interment at Rocky Creek Cemetery immediately after the
visitation. Bernhardt Funeral Home in Ellijay and Sigler Funeral Home in Lucedale are in charge
of arrangements.
