Betty E. Cumberland McCrory, lovingly known as Betty, bid farewell to this world on November 10, 2023 in Lucedale, MS. Born on March 24, 1930, in Philadelphia, MS, Betty lived a full and vibrant life, characterized by her thoughtful, loving, and spirited personality.

Betty was a graduate of Zephyr Hill High School in Philadelphia, MS. After graduation, she established herself as a small business owner. Her entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by her commitment to her community. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a devoted church-goer. Betty's faith and dedication to service were a testament to her character and a source of inspiration to many.

Despite her busy schedule, Betty always made time for her family, which she cherished above all else. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 30 years, Gurvis S Cumberland, her loving son Larry "Sammy" Cumberland, and her dear daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cumberland. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Gwendolyn Cumberland, and her cherished grandchildren, Steven (Crystal) Posey, Sarah McRaney, Joseph (Megan) Cumberland, and Ellen (Tyler) Massengale. Betty's memory will also live on in the hearts of her seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Betty was not just a successful businesswoman and a respected community leader; she was also a woman of many interests and hobbies. She loved to shop and never missed an opportunity to get her hair done. She was a lover of life, often found reminiscing about the good old days, enjoying her favorite snacks, and celebrating victories at bingo. Betty's voice was a source of joy to those around her, and she could often be found singing, filling the room with her spirit and love.

Betty McCrory was a woman of strength, resilience, and love. She was a beacon of hope and a source of comfort to those who knew her. Her life was a testament to her strong faith, her love for her family, and her dedication to her community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. Joseph Cumberland officiating.  Burial will be in New Blackjack Baptist Church Cemetery, Philadelphia, MS on Tuesday, November 14 at 11:00 am.
