Billy Donell Loper, age 67 passed away on June 20, 2026 in Lucedale, MS. He was born in Lucedale, MS on June 5, 1959. Donell served in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1979. After the Marines, he worked odd jobs, construction, welding, and woodwork. Donell enjoyed the outdoors, ballroom dancing, western movies, and good food.

He is survived by his mother, Lenora Bates (Stanley Cosse); sisters: Lanelle (Chad) Sullivan and Vickie (Don) Martin; stepbrothers: Tommy (Anna Kay) Bates and John (Cindy) Bates; stepsister, Robin (Johnny) Tanner; special uncle, Lester (Johnese) Cochran; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other friends and family members.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Billy Bates; sister, Brenda Boulware; brother, Darden Loper.

Donell spent the last nine years at Glen Oaks Nursing Home where he was well loved and cared for by the staff.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 10:00am at Crossroads Methodist Church Cemetery, 10274 Hwy 26 W, Lucedale, MS.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 9:30am to 10:00am at Crossroads Methodist Church Cemetery, 10274 Hwy 26 W, Lucedale, MS.

Pallbearers will include the VFW Post12192.
