Carlton Jackson of Lavonia, GA, formerly of Mobile, Al, age 82, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Piedmont Regional Hospital in Athens, GA. Mr. Jackson was born July 16, 1939 in Mississippi to the late Cleve Jackson and the late Roetta Lanora (Finch) Jackson.  He married Betty Deloris Goggins on December 17, 1966 in Mobile, AL. She preceded him in death on July 19, 1998.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his three children; two daughters, Michelle Bunker of Lavonia, GA, and Gelena Perry or Jasper, GA, one son, Michael (Tamra) Jackson of Lavonia, GA. Three Grandchildren; Cody(Alyssa Harness) Patterson Jackson of Lavonia, GA, Shawn(Taylor Phillpot) Jackson of Lavonia, GA, and his twin sister, Jacklyn(Steven Carter) Jackson of Florence, SC. Two Great Grandchildren; Wadelynn Patterson, Travis Jackson, and one expected, all of Lavonia, GA. His siblings; Tommie Jackson, Cleve(Laura) Jackson Jr., Marshall Jackson, Reginold(Babette) Jackson, Edna Earl Wilson, Jane Finch, Jacqueline(Roger) Garbers, Ivan Lorain(Paul) Murrill, Audrey Mae(Earl) Casey, and many nieces and nephews.

Carlton attended Tanner Williams grade school in AL, and is a graduate of the class of 1960 at Agricola High School in Agricola, MS. He played football for the Agricola Warriors!

In 1961, he went to San Diego, CA to work in the steel industry. He joined the Air Force on January 14, 1962 and went to boot camp in San Antonio, TX, technical school for aircraft sheet metal repair in Amarillo, TX. He served in France and Austin, TX. He was severely injured in an accident in Austin, TX and honorably discharged in 1967. He worked in construction, sheet metal, and the welding industry for various companies until his retirement.

His greatest accomplishment was getting his pilot license for small engine aircraft in San Diego, CA. He loved flying. He also enjoyed working on various types of automobiles and motorcycles! His joy of riding motorcycles was beyond words! He rode until he was 78 years old. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.

Preceded him in death are his parents, wife, brothers Henry Jackson and Jack Jackson, sister Rosalee Marie Jarman, brothers-in –law, Lawerance B. Wilson and John W. Finch, sister-in-law Mary Beth Jackson.

A graveside military service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Finch Cemetery, Harmon Pope Rd, Agricola, MS.
