Matthew "Dean" Tanner, age 96, passed away on August 31, 2026. He was born February 8, 1930 in Wilmer, Alabama to the late Norman and Bernice Tanner.

Dean is survived by his wife of 69 years, Beth Tanner; daughter, Leigh Anne Gray (Gary); daughter, LaDeana Council (Mike); son, Paul Tanner; grandchildren, Jason Gray, Matthew Gray, Shelby Seal, Jeremy Shepherd, Weston Shepherd, Wesley Tanner, Dustin Tanner,  and Brent Tanner; 9 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Bernice Tanner; sisters, Delores Thornburg, Jauice Carnley, and Lolette Tanner.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main Street Lucedale. Interment will follow in Tanner Cemetery, Howell Tanner Chapel Road, Lucedale.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:30am on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main Street Lucedale, MS.
