Mr. Dennie “Stafford” Baker Jr., age 81, of Lucedale, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at Sparrow Hills Personal Care Home in Lucedale.
Stafford was born on July 13, 1945, in the Agricola community to Dennie and Macie Bell Baker Sr. A hardworking man who took pride in what he did, Stafford spent more than 25 years as a self-employed long-haul truck driver. His years on the road reflected his dedication and strong work ethic.
When he wasn't working, Stafford enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for drag racing and enjoyed working on his car. These interests brought him happiness and gave him many opportunities to enjoy the things he loved most. Stafford will be remembered by his family and friends for the life he lived, the memories he created, and the lasting place he holds in the hearts of those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Mark Baker, and his parents, Dennie and Macie Bell Baker Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Marty Baker of Lucedale, Brandon Baker of Sinton, Texas, and Brandy Baker of Mobile; his sisters, Lynn (Robert) Davis of Lucedale and Shirley Easterling of Alexandria, Louisiana; and his brother, Mitchell Baker of Lucedale. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services celebrating Stafford’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Agricola Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Agricola Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.
Though Stafford will be deeply missed, the memories he leaves behind will continue to be treasured by those who loved him.
