Dorothy R. Beard, age 99, of Lucedale, Mississippi, passed away on May 5, 2026. She was born on September 19, 1926, in Lucedale to the late Vince and the late Ophelia Dorsett Beard.
Mrs. Beard was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Family Worship Center, where she lovingly served as an usher for more than 80 years. She was a devoted homemaker who loved caring for others and was deeply devoted to her community. Her kindness, faith, and servant's heart touched many lives throughout the years.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy (Cora) Griffin Sr.; grandchildren, LaTonya Jones, Jimeka G. Bibb, Daphanie Perkins, and Jimmy Griffin Jr.; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Beard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Vincent and Ophelia (Dorsett) Beard; siblings, Carrie Jackson, Mary Lucy, Otis, David, Curtis, Alice Ferrill, Diana Wright, Clara C., Ballard and Vergie Malone.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Mt. Sinai Family Worship Center, 128 Bexley Road South, Lucedale, Mississippi 39452. Burial will follow in Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Mt. Sinai Family Worship Center.
