Doyce Brown, age 86, of Lucedale passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at home.  Mr. Brown was born May 18, 1936 in Lucedale, MS. He is the son of the late Miller and the late Jessie L. Cochran Brown. Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of George County. He married Joanna Hempstead on May 23, 1959. He was employed by Ingalls Shipbuilding for 15 years and he was a self-employed home builder for 37 years. He served in the Army National Guard for 10 years. In all of his endeavors, he formed many lifelong friends. He became a member of First Baptist Church in 1960 where he served as a faithful usher for many years; he enjoyed participating in FBC Brotherhood. He was a loving and faithful husband, father, and pop.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joanna Hempstead Brown; one daughter, Michele (Mark) Starr; one son, Ben (Angela) Brown; Grandchildren, Spence (Kendra) Landrum, Taylor Landrum, Nicklaus Brown, Kate Brown, Conner Brown, Colton Doyce Brown, Joey (Olivia) Starr, Jessi (Ben) Lefkowitz, Aaron (Leah) Clark, Cody (Ashton) Parker; Great Grandchildren, Ryder Landrum, Grace Joanna Landrum, Waylon "Hand" Parker, Brendan Lefkowitz; Sisters In Law, Doris Brown, Jeanette H Dickens; Nephews, Reid Ware, Doug Brown, Donnie Brown; Niece, Louise Smith; and a host of family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Miller and Jessie Brown; brother, Johnny Ray Brown; brother, Raymond "Buck" Brown; father-in-law, Tom Hempstead Sr.; mother-in-law, Ethel Mae Hempstead; brother-in-law, Tom Hempstead Jr.; brother-in-law, Hugh L. Dickens.

The funeral will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. Hal Bates officiating.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale.
