Gayle Gill, age 85, of Lucedale passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025.  Mrs. Gill was born January 8, 1940 in Wiggins, MS. She is the daughter of the late Robert Johnson and the late Inez (Stamps) Watts.  She married Fred Keith Gill. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Keith Gill on September 21, 2011.

Mrs. Gill received her master's degree in library science at Delta State and taught English at Lucedale High School and George County High School, and she loved her students. She was the Librarian at the public library and the George County High School library, also serving on the Jackson-George Library board for many years. Mrs. Gill was a member of First Church of Lucedale where she volunteered for 14 years. She was a master gardener, a member and past president of the Lucedale Garden Club, and she loved tending to the flowers in her yard. Mrs. Gill helped organize the Arbor Day and tree handout for George County. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by son: Stan (Suzanne) Gill; three grandchildren: Seth Gill, Caleb (Carlie) Gill, and Luke Gill; sister: Lynn (Cecil) Allegrezza; brother-in-law: Clint Gill; sister-in-law: Phyllis Gill; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Predeceased by her brother, Robert Johnson Watts III.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at First Church Of Lucedale, 5101 Main Street, Lucedale, MS with Rev. David Newton officiating.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Calling hours will be Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 9:00-11:00am at First Church of Lucedale, 5101 Main Street, Lucedale, MS 39452.

Pallbearers will include: Seth Gill, Caleb Gill, Luke Gill, Steve Tipton, Ronnie Miller, and Mike Henderson.
