Helen B. Croom, age 90, of Lucedale died Friday, March 9, 2018 at Covenant Hospice of Mobile, AL. Mrs. Croom was born October 23, 1927 in Lucedale, MS. She is the daughter of the late Fred Winter Bates and the late Huella (Ables) Bates. She married James Allen Croom on November 3, 1950 at Rocky Creek, MS. She was predeceased by her husband, James Allen Croom on October 19, 2008. She was employed by George County Hospital for 27 years as a Secretary. Mrs. Croom was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter: Deborah (Ronnie) Massey of Lucedale, MS and three sons: Fred Allen (Brenda) Croom of Lucedale, MS, James Curtis (Patricia) Croom of Lucedale, MS and Jimmy Glen (Cheryl) Croom of Lucedale, MS,; one sister: Linda Cochran and one brother: Jimmy Bates; 9 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her brother, Billy Bates, brother, Leon Bates, and sister, Katherine Sharples

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 2147 Rocky Creek Road, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Greg Barker officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Creek Cemetery, Lucedale.

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 11 from 5:00-8:00pm at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS and Monday, March 12 from 10:00am-11:00am at Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
