Mr. Jack P. Harlan, 85, a resident of Lucedale, Mississippi and native of Childersburg, Alabama passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday, January 16, 2019. He was a graduate of McGill Institute High School in 1954 and after graduation entered the army and was stationed in Germany for three years. In 1957, he went to Auburn University on the G.I. bill. He married Mary Jane Croom in 1959 and graduated with a B.S. degree in forestry in 1961. Mr. Harlan was fond of the outdoors, wildlife, and all aspects of the forest industry. He eventually started his own Company, Tri-State Pole & Piling, in 1975 in George County Mississippi. He enjoyed working and spending time with his family and friends on the river. His biggest philosophy was work hard, play to win, and everything will probably work out OK.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary Jane Croom Harlan; Two sons and Two daughters, Bill (Traci) Harlan, Karen (Gary) Day, Sharon (Justin) Lucas and Tom (Becky) Harlan; Nine grandchildren, Jeremiah, Nikki, Justin, Courtney, Dylan, Morgan (Steven) Wieczorek, Jackson, Jason and Jacqueline; Sister, Lois Owens; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and
grandson Thomas P. Harlan Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 Sunday evening, January 20, 2019
at Sigler Funeral Home in Lucedale, MS 39452

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Lucedale, Mississippi on Monday, January 21, 2019 at ll:00 AM with one-hour visitation prior to the Mass.

Interment will follow at Croom / Rocky Creek Cemetery on Evanston Rd. in Lucedale, MS.
