James D. Byrd, age 86, of Lucedale died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at George Regional
Medical Center of Lucedale, MS. Mr. Byrd was born May 25, 1930 in Lucedale, MS. He is the
son of the late J. T. and the late Julia Frances (Hempstead) Byrd Sr. He married Beryl Anita
Gordon on September 12, 1976. He was predeceased by his wife, Beryl Anita Gordon on
December 23, 2013.
He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by U. S. Navy at Ingles
Shipbuilders as a Mechanical Engineer.
He is survived by; one sister: Ruth (Forrest) Stringfellow and two brothers: Marshall Byrd and
J. T. Byrd Jr., niece, Marsha (Jack) Peters; Stepson, Gerald Rodgers; Stepson, Phillip Rodgers;
step daughter, Janis Steiner; other nieces and nephews,6 Step Grandchildren ; 5 Step Great
Grandchildren
The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248
Main St., Lucedale, MS with Bro. B. J. Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Creek
Cemetery, Lucedale on Wednesday, December 28 at 2:00 pm.
