James Archie Caruthers, age 68, of Lucedale died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at home in
Lucedale. Mr. Caruthers was born November 17, 1947 in Sardis, MS. He is the son of the late
James Wilson and the late Margaret Lee (Flanagan) Caruthers. He married Linda Guidry on
January 28, 1982 at Hernando, MS.
He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 8/6/1968 to 5/14/1970.
Mr. Caruthers was a member of Solid Rock Church Of God.
He was retired from the Gulf City Seafood Company.
He is survived by his wife: Linda (Guidry) Caruthers and one daughter: Lisa Marie (Matt)
Crawley of Lucedale, MS; four sisters: Aleta (Roger Morgan) Schwartz, Betty Gillespie, Cathey
(Bill) Pepper, Linda (Ray) Streight all of Kansas and one brother: Richard Caruthers of Kansas;
He also has five grandchildren, grandson, Zackery Auvil Jr. of Lucedale, MS; grandson, Bobby
Joe Dickerson III of Lucedale, MS; granddaughter, Hannah Dickerson of Lucedale, MS;
grandson, Bowen Boyd of Arizona; grandson, Jackson Boyd of Arizona; 5 niece; 10 Nephews;
31 Great Nieces & Nephews, 4 Great Great Nieces & Nephews
Predeceased by his parents, James Wilson and Margaret Lee Caruthers, daughter, Christina
Boyd, nephew, John Halverson, Great Niece, Alyx Sasser.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 am on Monday, January 25 at Solid Rock Church Of God,
Tanner Williams Road, Mobile, AL with Bro. Glen Barnhill officiating. Burial will be in Movella
Baptist Church Cemetery.
