James Augustus "Jim" Dorsett, II, age 78, of Gautier, MS died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at home
in Gautier. Mr. Dorsett was born August 2, 1937 in Mobile, AL. He is the son of the late Adonis
Elwood "Pete" Dorsett and the late Hylda (Ford) Dorsett. Grandparents were Lula Roberts
Dorsett and James Augustus Dorsett, MD and Minnie Dulaney Ford and Eugene Valentine
Ford.
He graduated from Lucedale High School in 1955 and then University of Mississippi majoring in
Pharmacy. Jim was a talented musician and played musical instruments with ease.
Jim attended naval officer Training School in Newport, RI and was stationed at Subic Bay,
Philippines, Yokosuka, Japan and Key West, FL.
On completion of his military duty he returned to Lucedale and the practice of Pharmacy,
working in San Antonio, TX and Leakesville before retiring to his home in Gautier, MS.
He is survived by; one brother: Peter E. Dorsett of New Orleans, LA; Cousins and Friends.
The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 29 at First United Methodist of
Lucedale, 311 Main Street, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Larry White officiating. Burial will be in
Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 29 from 9:00-10:00am at First United Methodist Church.
