James Roy Newman, age 84, of Lucedale passed away Friday, September 5, 2025 at Sparrows Hills Personal Care.  Mr. Newman was born October 1, 1940 in Magnolia, MS. He is the son of the late Woodrow W. and the late Alice L. (Woodall) Newman.  He married Inez Newman on June 29, 1962.  He was predeceased by his wife, Inez Newman on March17, 2017.

He was employed by Ingalls Shipbuilding as an X Ray Tech for more than 44 years. Mr. Newman was a member of the Mississippi National Guard for many years, and also a First Responder in Jackson County. Mr. Newman was a member of Barton Baptist. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.

Mr. Newman has one sister, Patricia Newman and two brothers, Marvin Newman and H. L. Newman.

The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Barton Baptist Church, Hwy 63 South, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Brad Howard officiating.  Burial will be in Carter Cemetery, Lucedale, MS.

Calling hours will be Monday, September 8, 2025 from 12:00-1:00pm at Barton Baptist Church, Hwy 63 South, Lucedale, MS.
