Jimmy Earl Bates, age 78, of Lucedale died Friday, March 30, 2018 at Leakesville Rehab & Nursing Center of Leakesville, MS. Mr. Bates was born April 14, 1939 in Lucedale, MS. He is the son of the late Fred Winter Bates and the late Huella (Ables) Bates. He was employed as a Truck Driver. Mr. Bates was a member of First Baptist Church of Lucedale.

He is survived by one daughter: Karen Daley of Lucedale, MS and one son: David Bates; one sister: Linda Cochran; four grandchildren. Grandson, Kyle Daley; Grandson, Connor Daley; Grandson, Andrew Bates; granddaughter, Ally Bates; special friend, Phillip Carpenter.

Predeceased by his sister, Helen Croom, sister, Katherine Sharples, brother, Billy Bates, and brother, Leon Bates.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale.
