John Fred Yates, age 89, of Lucedale died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at home in Lucedale. Mr.
Yates was born July 1, 1926 in Leakesville, MS. He is the son of the late William C. and the late
Ruby (Kittrell) Yates. He married Farron Raye Cowart on April 4, 1959.
He was employed by Alabama Dry Docks as a shipfitter for 36 years.
Mr. Yates was a member of Movella Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Farron Raye (Cowart) Yates, two daughters: Mary (Rodney) Sanders,
Carolyn (Kirk) Greenlee and two sons: John Yates, Judson Yates; two brothers: Max Yates,
Harley "Cheeco" Yates; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.
Predeceased by his sister, Myra TerKeurst, sister, Mavis Seal, brother, Edward "Hall" Yates,
brother, Tudd Yates.
The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, April 1 at Movella Missionary Baptist Church, 175
Movella Baptist Church Road, Lucedale, MS with Bro. Donald Brown officiating. Burial will be in
Movella Baptist Church Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 31 from 5:30-8:00pm at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main
