John Dawson Tanner Jr., age 65, of Mobile, AL passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at The Retreat Hospice by Saad of Mobile, AL.  Mr. Tanner was born March 3, 1959 in Mobile, AL. He is the son of the late John Dawson and the late Lillie Mae Ollie Kyle Tanner Sr.

He was a lifelong resident of George County and Lucedale area. He was a retired employee of Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation for over 30 years as an outside machinist. He served in the United States Air Force and he was a Desert Storm Veteran in the Mississippi National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Timothy (Erica) Tanner and Courtney (Reuben) Anderson; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Marie (David) Walters, Judie (Larry) Harrison, Lucy Spillers; brother, Rickey (Evelyn) Tanner; nephews, Anthony (Hannah) Key, RJ Tanner, David Tanner; nieces, Wendy (Jake) Deville, Angela (Sam) Richardson; numerous cousins and friends; mother of his children, Tina Dossett; special friend, Wilda Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dawson Sr. and Lillie Mae Tanner; nephews, Danny Walters and Ryan Harrison.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Saturday July 20, 2024 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. Brad Howard officiating.  Burial will be in Howell Cemetery, Lucedale.
