Laverne H. Scott, age 87, of Lucedale, MS passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Smith Manor of Lucedale, MS. Mrs. Scott was born February 11, 1934 in Lucedale, MS. She is the daughter of the late Hillard H. Howell and the late Mary K. (Keel) Howell. She married Francis Keith Scott on April 4, 1959 at Mobile, AL. She was predeceased by her husband on March 23, 2008. Mrs. Scott was also preceded in death by, her grandson, Jordan Scott, sister, Myrtle Lee Clements, brother, Rev. Hollis Howell, and brother, Austin Howell

Laverne was retired from the George Regional Hospital as a Registered Nurse. While at the hospital Laverne was the Director of Nursing services as well as Operating Room Director.
Mrs. Scott was a member of Refuge United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter: Tara Scott (Presley) Mallett and seven sons: Derrick (Karen) Scott, Mark (Kim) Scott, Seth (Carolee) Scott, Rhett (Suzanne) Scott, Brian (Charity) Scott, Paul (Shelly) Scott Sr. and Heath (Leslie) Scott; two sisters: Lanelle Kirkpatrick and Shirley Roberts, and three brothers: Thurman Howell, Lester Howell and Rev. Glenn Howell; Grandchildren, Will Scott, Caleb Scott, Nathan Scott, Luke Scott, Ian Mallett, Samuel Mallett, Joshua Mallett, Reuben Scott, Jared Howell, Ethan Scott, Noah Scott, Isaiah Scott, Alex Scott, Harrison Scott, Carter Scott, Paul Scott Jr., Jacob Scott, Halley Scott Strickland, Katie Scott, Britnye Sartain Fryfogle, Hilary Sartain Grimm, Toby Sartain Flowers, Meghan Scott Anderson, Meredith Howell Broom, Jamie Scott Abbas, Lydia Scott, Anne Katherine Scott, Ella Frances Scott, Elliot Scott; 22 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 11:30am on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Refuge United Methodist Church, 6187 Hwy 63 South, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Larry Hilliard officiating. Burial will be in Refuge Methodist Church Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 9:30-11:30am at Refuge United Methodist Church.

Due to the spread of covid, at family request, the visitation will be open to the public; however, the funeral service and graveside service will be family only. Wearing a mask by family and friends is requested.
