Lawrence Weldon Johnson, Sr., known to all as "Squirrel", passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 81. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His retired years were spent in his workshop, building birdhouses, swings and rockers. He enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables and making jelly for all.

Born November 25, 1943 in Verda, LA, the son of the late James Bailey and Ruth Wallace Johnson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Chelette Johnson; sister, Mineola "Missy" Oglesby and brother, Charles Johnson.

Lawrence is survived by his children, Belinda Louque (Philip), Lawrence "Bo" Johnson Jr. (Holly), Paula Gaudet (Leland), Kyle Johnson (Sharie), Lyle Johnson (Courtney); grandchildren, Candice, Kristin, Brittney, Lucy, Brandi, Natalie, Brynn, Waylon, Christian. Great grandchildren, Emma, Lorelai, Walker, Emery. Siblings, Nona Ann Dubois, Martha Hines, James Reid Johnson and Johnny Johnson. He also leaves behind many other family members, friends and neighbors who will sadly miss him, including his favorite dog pal Sydney.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. Jim Reed officiating.  Burial will be in Serene Memorial Gardens, Moss Point on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1:30 pm.
