Louie "Rudolph" Sellers, born January 18, 1933, in the Gandytown area of Pine Grove Community, Ellisville, Mississippi, passed away on March 5, 2026.

Mr. Sellers attended Jones County Agricultural High School in Ellisville. After high school, he enrolled in the Intensive Business Course at Jones Junior College and earned his Associate of Arts degree.

He then applied for a temporary teachers' license, and that was the beginning of a 40-year teaching career.

Mr. Sellers spent nights and summers attending Mississippi Southern (now the University of Southern Mississippi) and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education in 1958.

He taught at Broome High School for three years, then took a position at Hub High School in Marion County, Mississippi, and began coaching girls' and boys' basketball.

After leaving Hub High School, Mr. Sellers taught and coached at Broome once again and then at Home High School in Stone County, Mississippi. In 1961 he agreed to coach girls' basketball at Lucedale High School.

In 1964, Mr. Sellers was named George County High School's first girls' basketball coach.

He continued to coach the girls for the next 24 years, and he retained his coaching position at GCHS for 32 consecutive years.

His 1976 girls' team won the AA State Championship. His overall record at George County High School (boys and girls) was 638 wins.

Mr. Sellers' locker room slogan was: Play Hard, Play Smart, and Play Together.

During his years of coaching, he was selected as Coach of the Year (either in division or conference). He was named Mississippi Association of Coaches South All-Star Coach in 1976, listed in the 1988-89 Who's Who Among American High School Basketball Coaches, received the Mississippi Association of Coaches 30-year Service Award, Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame 2013, and the George County Athletic Hall of Fame as the first inaugural inductee in 2025.

He enjoyed reading and playing table tennis with friends, and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren were always at the top of his list of things to do.

His grandchildren were constantly amazed that wherever he went, there was always someone who knew him. He had gained the respect and admiration of those whose lives he had touched through teaching and coaching.

Mr. Sellers is survived by daughter, Lori Sellers (Keith) Munn; grandchildren: Austin (Elyse) Munn, Elizabeth Munn, and Sarah Munn; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by wife, Jo Ann Coxwell Sellers; parents: William Mulford Sellers and Sarah Ruth Sellers; brothers: Donald Mulford Sellers and Thomas "Richard" Sellers.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 11:00am at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St. Lucedale, MS.
