Margaret (Sis) Edmonds Tanner

Margaret was a devoted woman in every way. She loved Jesus Christ with all of her heart. The family was a very close second. Getting together with family and friends was something she cherished and looked forward to.

Margaret was born in Chickasaw, Alabama on October 14, 1944, to Charles and Margaret Edmonds. She was a proud alumnus of C.F. Vigor High School, Class of 1964. On May 3, 1969, she married Billy Ray Tanner and was married for 55 years. She was a proud homemaker and worked at the Tanners Grocery for many years with her in laws, serving the community. In the Howell Community, she was a driving force to help convert the old Howell School House into a community center. She also worked to fundraise to form the Howell Community volunteer Fire Department. She never forgot her roots, always going to every class reunion and all Chickasaw community reunions. She helped endless families and friends throughout her lifetime and remained a major force within the community until her death.

Margaret is survived by her children Bill (Susan) Tanner, Ashley Tanner, and Donald Tanner. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Alexander (Lauren) Tanner, Jackson (Madison) Tanner, Marley (Kevin) Truong, Lola Tanner, Briana Tanner, Christian Tanner, Brooklyn Tanner, Riley Hays, James Hays, Haley Catchot, Tully Waldrop, Jake Edmonds, and Ella Edmonds; and 3 great grandchildren, Emilia Truong, Stanley Johnson, and Bailey Atkins; sister, Ann (Emmanuel) Cook; brothers, Charles (Lily) Edmonds, Walter (Debbie) Edmonds, Richard (Debbie) Edmonds, Steve (Linda) Edmonds, Ted Lee (Rhonda) Edmonds, Gary Edmonds, Paul (Tiffany) Edmonds, and Kent (Marsha) Edmonds/

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Margaret Edmonds; husband, Billy Ray Tanner; son, Ronald (Pee Wee) Tanner; three brothers, Dale Edmonds, Lucien Edmonds and David Edmonds; in-laws, Caylor and Lois Tanner.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, August 14, 2026 at Midway Baptist Church, 2206 Howell Tanner Chapel Road, Lucedale MS 39452. Burial will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am- 1:00pm on August 14, 2026 at Midway Baptist Church, 2206 Howell Tanner Chapel Road Lucedale, MS.

Serving as pallbearers will Bud Cook, Phillip Edmonds, Jake Edmonds, Kevin Truong, Alexander Tanner, and Jackson Tanner. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Edmonds, Brian Edmonds, and Clint Edmonds.
