Margaret Alice McAuley Thornton, age 77, passed into Glory on August 30, 2026.

Margaret was a very loving soul who worked as a beautician for more than 50 years, serving mostly the elderly where she touched many lives. She served Jesus through her church Heritage Baptist Church and her cross ministry. She loved everyone she met and made many people part of her family. Her biggest joy came from her husband, children, grandchildren, and all of her nieces and nephews, which she considered her own.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Harvey Lamar Thornton; children, Tammy Brewer (John Nyman), Joe Thornton, Cecile Yarber (Byron); grandchildren, Matthew Brewer (Amy), Jesse Holloman (Jamie), Jackson Woods (Victoria), Tori Thornton (William Driskell), Codi Yarber (Megan) and Cierra Yarber; 8 great grandchildren, 11 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Donna Lazanowski (Tony); three sisters-in-love, Kathleen Revette (Jr), Christine Jordan (Charles), Mary Ann Thornton (Kermit), a special cousin Karen Alford (Allen) and her good friend, Elizabeth Brown; special family, Frank and Margaret Reach.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil McAuley and Margaret McAuley Kennedy; one brother, Roy C. McAuley; her son-in-law, Prentiss Brewer; nephews, Dewey Revette, Jason Thornton, Chase Thornton and Hunter Thornton; her mother-in-law, Ida Thornton, beloved brothers-in-law and her aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Heritage Baptist Church, 10183 Hwy 613 Lucedale MS. Interment will follow in Brewer-Thornton Family cemetery.

Visitation will he held from 5:30-8:30 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Heritage Baptist Church, 10183 Hwy 613 Lucedale, MS.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Brewer, Mark Thornton, Kristopher Thornton, Logan Moss, Codi Yarber, and William Driskell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jamie Holloman, Ramsey Moss, Ken Revette, David Gibson, Corey Adams and Frank Reach.
