Marilyn Adams Hatcher was born on April 24, 1919 and passed away in Lucedale, Mississippi on July 28th, 2018. Her birth was less than a year after World War I ended and she witnessed many events during her long life. Her parents were Thomas Leonard Adams and Lula Virginia Welford Adams....both of their families were long-time residents in Greene/George Counties and Marilyn learned school subjects early as both of her parents were teachers. She was always proud that her family donated land from their farm in the Rocky Creek Community for the construction of Rocky Creek Church of Christ....She attended the Church of Christ all of her life. She attended Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, Tennessee and was awarded a Business Certificate which served her well both in private business and as an employee of George County School System where she worked for many years in the Office of the Superintendent. She traveled to Italy in 1967 to visit her cousin Mona McLeod Mobley and toured the cities of Florence, Rome, Naples, and Pompeii where she saw many ancient and Renaissance monuments, museums and churches. She married Lester Clay Hatcher, the assistant principal of Lucedale High School and they had many happy years together, visiting friends and family across the Southeast. She is survived by her nephews Kent Yrabedra (Cindy) of Mobile, Alabama, Dr. Ronald Yrabedra of Tallahassee, Florida, Chris Paul of Texas, and one niece Paula Paul Blanton (Pat) of Roanoke, Texas. She is also survived by her step children, Lester Hatcher of Lucedale, Mississippi June Hatcher Goff of Jackson, Mississippi, and Wayne Hatcher of Houston, Texas. She was cared for in her final years by her nephew Kent Yrabedra and devoted caregivers Faye Hayes, Susie Richardson, and Sandra Long. She is survived by many other nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. William Culp officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale, MS.
