Mary Evelyn Fortenberry, age 83, of Lucedale passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at Mobile Infirmary in Mobile, AL.  Mrs. Fortenberry was born July 25, 1942, in Lucedale, MS. She is the daughter of the late W. G. and the late Virginia Mae (Holland) Dungan.  She married Ellis Gerald Fortenberry, he predeceased her February 18, 2010.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Rocky Creek Church of Christ.

Mrs. Fortenberry was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.

She is survived by a daughter: Michelle Davis of Lucedale, MS and two sons: Michael (Janice) Bishop of Lucedale, MS and Keith (Kitty) Bishop of Thibodaux, LA; three sisters: Betty Williams, Frances (Woody) Dickerson and June (Mike) Mathis, and a brother: William (Donna) Dungan; She also has 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her parents: W. G. and Virginia Mae Dungan, two brothers: Robert Dungan and Raymond Dungan.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Rocky Creek Church of Christ, 3211 Rocky Creek Road, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Steve Crigler officiating.  Burial will be in Rocky Creek Cemetery, Lucedale, MS.
