Mary Virginia Fairley Havard, age 99, of Lucedale, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. She was born August 31, 1921, in Lucedale, to parents Roy and Lil Fairley. She and her twin sister Sarah Eugenia, along with brothers Archie and William were reared in the Basin Community in George County, MS.

Virginia loved to share memories of growing up in the twenties. She spoke often of her school days at Basin High School-classmates, teachers, her principal Mr. Dale, and playing on the basketball team. Some of her favorite memories were of campmeeting-tenting each year at Salem Methodist Campground.

Virginia married Carl L. Havard in 1939, and they had three children- James Carl (Jimmy), JoAn Virginia, and Mary Sue. Virginia was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved attending church and she loved her church family.

She is survived by two daughters: JoAn (William) Reid and Mary Sue (Payton) Dudley, and a son: Jimmy Havard; one sister, her twin: Eugenia Howell; She has five grandchildren,  Sheila (John) Smallwood, Ginger Havard, Lance (Sherry) Reid, Payton Dudley Jr., Tuffy Dudley; five great grandchildren, Kate Smallwood, Abby Smallwood, Carlton (Kimberly) Reid, Blake Reid, Christopher (Carlie) Reid Marler.

Predeceased by her husband Carl L. Havard, two brothers, Archie Fairley and William Fairley, grandson, William David Reid, and daughter-in-law, Beth Havard.

The funeral will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at First United Methodist of Lucedale, 5101 Main Street, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Larry White and Rev. David Newton  officiating.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
