Melba Jean Fortenberry, age 76, of Lucedale passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at home in Lucedale, MS. Mrs. Fortenberry was born November 17, 1942 in Delhi, LA. She is the daughter of the late Arbert and the late Florice (Sykes) Frith. She married Donald Fortenberry on April 29, 1991.

Mrs. Fortenberry was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband: Donald Fortenberry; two daughters: Darlene Schmidt, Teresa (Donald) Mizell; one son: Byron Tumlinson Jr.; three stepdaughters: Rhonda Hamilton, Robin Shultze and Renee Fortenberry; one stepson: Ricky Fortenberry; two sisters: Elizabeth Loper and Charlene Patrick; one brother: Buddy Frith; and a special pet: Baby.

Mrs. Fortenberry is preceded in death by two grandsons: Dakota Couch and Justin Schmidt; and one brother: Kenny Frith.

The funeral will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. Philip McKissick and Rev. Keith Tayloe officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale, MS.
