Nolen Jackson Merritt, age 86, of Greene County, Mississippi, passed away on May 15, 2025. He was born on July 12, 1938, to the late Archie E. "Jack" Merritt and Valera (Miller) Merritt. On April 19, 1958, he married the love of his life, Vivian Loretta Tanner.

Nolen was a hardworking man who always put his family first. He worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding for 40 years while also farming and running his own trucking company. Even after retirement, his dedication continued as he operated the trucking business for an additional 15 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Belinda (David) Tadlock of Pascagoula, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Meaghan, Kershlyn, Karson, and Kayson; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce (Dan) Pickering; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Nolen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta Tanner Merritt; his son, Nolen Craig Merritt; and his sister, Madene Merritt O'Neal.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Sigler Funeral Home, with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am. Bro. Donnie Williamson will officiate. Interment will follow at Merritt Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Karson Tadlock, Kayson Tadlock, Scott Smith, Calvin Cooley, Shawn Hobby, Casey Hicks, and Neal Helton.
