Paula Madelen Cox Carpenter, age 79, of Lucedale, MS passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at George Regional Health & Rehab. Paula was born on August 29, 1944 in George County, MS, to Earl T. and Genevieve Kilcreas Cox. She was a member of Shipman United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Agricola High School, Perkinston Junior College, and the University of Southern MS. She taught first grade in Biloxi and East Central Elementary School in Jackson County, MS. After marrying, she became a house wife and occasionally took care of elderly and sick people; her parents lived with her for several years when they became too ill to live alone.

Paula was a generous person who would share anything she had with anyone that she thought needed it. She loved to read and cook. She bragged that she never went by a recipe. Some times with good or "bad" results. She also enjoyed participating in activities at the American Legion in Pascagoula with her husband and going to the casinos on the coast.

She is survived by her longtime friend, Pat Libby; cousins, other relatives & friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ray Carpenter; her parents, Earl T. Cox and Genevieve Kilcreas Cox.

The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main Street, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Steven Allen officiating.  Burial will be in C.F. Ward Family Cemetery, Lucedale, MS.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 1:30pm-2:00pm at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main Street, Lucedale, MS.
