Rachel Mable Dickerson Smith, age 79, of Lucedale, MS passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 at George Regional Medical Center of Lucedale, MS.  Mrs. Smith was born August 24, 1944 in Bexley, MS. She is the daughter of the late Shelton H. Dickerson Sr. and the late Doris (McInnis) Dickerson.  She married Terrell G. Smith on June 27, 1968 in Georgia shortly before Terrell was to enter military service.

Rachel retired from Singing River Mental Health as a Case Worker in 2004. She also worked for the George County Welfare Department for many years. One of her greatest joys in life was helping others in need.  Mrs. Smith was baptized as a young girl at the Holmes Baptist Church and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.  As a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #53, Rachel took great pleasure in placing the U.S. flag on veteran graves.

She is survived by her husband, Terrell G. Smith and one daughter, Anna (Brent) Campbell of Lucedale, MS; one brother, Shelton "Dickie" Dickerson of Lucedale, MS; granddaughter, Breanna Campbell of Lucedale, MS.

Predeceased by two sisters, Onte Churchwell, and Carolyn Eubanks, Parents Shelton and Doris Dickerson Sr.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Bro. Mark Warden and Bro. Jimmy Howell officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodard Cemetery, Lucedale.

Pall Bearers will be Glen Porter, Jamie Dickerson, Greg Keel, Jerry Havard, Gabe Murry and Daniel Rollings.
