Ray Wayne Carpenter, age 75, of Lucedale passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at George Regional Medical Center of Lucedale, MS. Mr. Carpenter was born May 2, 1943 in Colquitt, GA. He is the son of the late John Timothy and the late Nattie Mae (Wilder) Carpenter. He married Paula Madelen Cox for 44 years.

Ray was a member of Shipman United Methodist Church. He served in the Air Force and reserves. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a longtime member of The American Legion Post #160 in Pascagoula and was a member of the Honor Guard. He liked to fish and cook for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Paula Madelen (Cox) Carpenter ; nephew, Phillip R. Carpenter; Great Niece, Kaylaw Carpenter; Foster Brothers, Glen Loftus of Lucedale, MS; Curtis Loftus of Pascagoula, MS; Nicholson S. Loftus Jr. of Pascagoula, MS; Foster Sister, Darlene Loftus of Pascagoula, MS.

Predeceased by his Foster Parents, Nicholson S. and Rita Loftus, two brothers, Buddy C. Carpenter and John T. Carpenter.

The funeral will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Sigler Funeral Home, P.O. Box 102, Lucedale, MS with Rev. Gene Vance officiating. Burial will be in C.F. Ward Cemetery, Lucedale, MS.
