Ronald Eugene Dixon Sr (A.K.A Sonny or Red), 84 of Lucedale, MS sadly passed away on December 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Sonny was born to Ronald Fred Dixon and Lola Allen Dixon on July 14, 1939 in Mobile, AL. After serving in the United States ARMY from 1962-1964, he joined the Asbestos Local 55, which he retired from after 28 years. For his next adventure, Sonny went into the chicken breeder business for 6 years in Pinola, MS. He also worked and retired from MDOT.

Sonny enjoyed coon and rabbit hunting and bass fishing with his family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed cutting the lawn and watching or attending NASCAR races. But, most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ronald Fred Dixon and Lola Allen Dixon; and siblings Mary Dixon Green and Iris Dixon Tatham.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lois Cox Dixon; children, Rhonda Dixon Dickerson, Ronald "Buster" (Debra) Dixon, Richard (Kristin) Dixon, Russell (Gloria) Dixon, Susan (Wayne) Kennedy, Maegen Dixon Lanier,  Client (Sue Ann) Craig; siblings, Glen (Janice) Dixon, Roger Dale (Patricia) Dixon, and Gray (Donna) Dixon; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;  and a host of nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws.

The visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM at Sigler Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home's chapel with Rev. Franky Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Journey Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Forrest Proctor, Canyon Eubanks, Rusty Dixon, Levi Craig, Zakkuary Estep, and Landon Lanier. Sigler Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
