Mrs. Sandra Lee McLeod Hicks, age 76, of Leakesville, Mississippi, transitioned to glory on September 17, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. She was born July 9, 1950, to the late Willie G. and Margie Redding McLeod and was raised in a God-fearing home with her five siblings: Linda (Dennis) Frey, Wanda (David) Cameron, Michael (Judy) McLeod, Naomi (Tommy) Cornelson, and Teresa Cooley.

Sandra graduated from Leakesville High School in 1968, where she met the love of her life, Gary Edward Hicks. She often remarked that he had made life beautiful for her. Their 57-year marriage was blessed with four children: Sophia (Jody) Davis, Sherry (Sandy) Sanford, Samantha Lee Hicks, and Greg (Melinda) Hicks. At the end of 2025, she fully retired from American Tank and Vessel after 38 years of dedicated service.

Faith was the foundation of Sandra's life. Family devotions, daily prayer, singing, and playing the piano were woven into her childhood, and at a young age, she received the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. She was also baptized in the precious name of Jesus. She held closely to the promise of Acts 2:39, praying fervently that the promise of God would continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Even during her brief battle with cancer, Sandra continued to witness to others about the goodness of God. She spoke openly of her love for Jesus, encouraged those around her, and held tightly to the promise that she would walk again. She believed with all her heart that God would restore her strength, and she never let go of that hope. Even in the most difficult days, she continued to share her faith and point others toward Jesus, holding fast to the hope she had in Him.

Her grandchildren include Scotsi (Billy) Miller, Jodi Lee (Dillon) Jarrell, Kody (Elyshah) Davis, Daniel (Brittany) Sanford, Brooke (Sam) Adams, Hannah (Nate) Phillips, Julia (Wade) Williams, Brody (Valerie) Hicks, Jaxon (Abigail) Havens, Brayden Hicks, Max Havens, BryLee Hicks, Titus Havens, and NateLee Havens. Her great-grandchildren include Lily, Elliana, Paisley, Leila, Chloe, Parker, Mason, Weston, Huxley, EnLee, Avonlea, Jenna, Hadley, Laura, Wrenlea, Walker, George, and Brecken.

Sandra loved the Lord and served Him faithfully throughout her life. She sang, played the piano, served on the Beautification Committee, and faithfully supported the church's fundraising efforts. She had a God-given gift for making every event beautiful and inviting, but her decorating was never simply about flowers or surroundings—it was one of the ways she served others. Her precious hands created beauty, but her heart created warmth.

Apostolic Tabernacle, founded by her son and pastor, Rev. Greg Hicks, on Sandra's birthday in 2017, held a very special place in her heart. She loved the church deeply and counted it a privilege to support the work of God through her service and giving.

Family was at the center of Sandra's life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her prayers, love, and faith will continue through the generations she so faithfully covered in prayer.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Willie G. and Margie Redding McLeod; her son-in-law, Scott Pierce; and her grandson, Alek Havens.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Edward Hicks; her four children and their spouses; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren, along with her siblings, extended family, church family, and many friends who loved her dearly.

Per her request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Apostolic Tabernacle Building Fund, 1516 Texas Street, Leakesville, Mississippi 39451.

Serving as pallbearers will be her seven grandsons: Kody Davis, Daniel Sanford, Brody Hicks, Jaxon Havens, Brayden Hicks, Max Havens, and Titus Havens.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at Apostolic Tabernacle 305 St. Francis Street Leakesville, Mississippi.

Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Apostolic Tabernacle 305 St. Francis Street Leakesville, Mississippi.

She will be laid to rest at Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church Cemetery, 331 Hwy 594, Leakesville, Mississippi.
