Vermell Irene Green, age 94, of Lucedale died Friday, January 1, 2016 at George Regional
Medical Center of Lucedale, MS. Mrs. Green was born May 20, 1921 in Greene County, MS.
She is the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Eunice (Freeman) Cowart. She married
Shackford Green Sr. Vermell was predeceased by her husband, Shackford Green Sr. on
January 3, 2000.
She was a Home Maker, Wife, Mother, and Teacher.
Mrs. Green was a member of Leaf Church of God.
She is survived by one daughter: Marilyn G. (James) Stewart of Vicksburg, MS and one son:
Shackford (Gail) Green Jr. of Hilton Head Island, SC; She also has two grandchildren, one
great-grandchild. granddaughter, Babette (George) Shuman of Savannah, GA; grandson, Derek
(Kelli) Howard of Madison, MS; Expected Great Grandchild, Nolan Howard; niece, Donna
(Frank) Bexley; nephew, Jerome Cowart; Great nephew, William Bexley.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 5 at Leaf Church Of God, Breland Road,
Leaf, MS. Burial will be in Pipkins Cemetery, Leaf on Tuesday, January 5 at 12:00 pm.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 5 from 9:00-11:00am at Leaf Church of God.
